First World War Gallery and site interpretation, designed by us at S&N, working with friends at Parc Signs who worked on build elements. The design explores the role of Pendennis Castle and the town of Falmouth during the First World War. The exhibition highlighted the strategic importance of the harbour and coastal defences in protecting vital shipping routes and supporting naval operations throughout the conflict.
Original artefacts, uniforms, artillery equipment, photographs, maps, and personal accounts were combined with interpretive graphics and immersive displays to tell the story of the soldiers, sailors, and local communities involved in the wartime effort. The gallery examined the operation of the coastal batteries at Pendennis Castle, the movement of troops and supplies through Falmouth, and the wider impact of war on the region, creating an engaging and educational visitor experience that connected local history with the broader story of the First World War.
