We designed, printed, built and installed all aspects the gallery.
We designed and built the museum shop as an immersive British railway station evacuee experience, inspired by the atmosphere of wartime Britain during the Second World War and incorporating a traditional gentlemen’s army outfitters aesthetic.
Drawing on the visual language of period railway platforms, ticket offices, station waiting rooms, and military tailoring stores, the space was carefully themed to evoke the emotional journey faced by evacuees alongside the everyday presence of military life during the era. Vintage-style signage, luggage displays, timber counters, military clothing racks, period lighting, and authentic graphic elements recreated the character of a 1940s railway station and gentleman’s outfitters, while integrated retail displays allowed visitors to engage with the environment as part of the wider museum narrative. The design balanced historical authenticity with practical retail functionality, creating a memorable and atmospheric visitor experience that connected wartime travel, military heritage, and the social history of Britain during the conflict.
