We designed and delivered the Price of Peace Gallery at The Wardrobe, focusing on the history and operational role of the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment and The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment during a period of global political tension and military readiness.
The gallery combines authentic uniforms, weapons, communications equipment, training materials, photographs, and personal testimonies to illustrate the realities of British Army life throughout the Cold War era.
Deployments in Germany, Northern Ireland, and other strategic locations highlight the regiments’ role within NATO defence operations and peacekeeping duties. Immersive environments, archival film footage, and interactive media help visitors understand the atmosphere of constant preparedness that defined the period, while dedicated sections celebrate the traditions, discipline, and identity of the regiments themselves. The gallery creates a compelling narrative that connects military history with the wider political and social landscape of the Cold War.
